John Lennon Large Limited Edition Dye Transfer Photographic Print by Astrid Kirchherr, the "Attic Portrait" Taken in 1962, Signed on the Mat, with Signed COA. A haunting head and shoulders portrait of John Lennon, 17.5" x 21.5" (sight size), matted and framed to an overall 29" x 32". It is signed in pencil on the mat at lower left. This was taken by Kirchherr after her fiancé (and former Beatle) Stuart Sutcliffe died. The Beatles were making their last appearances at the Star Club in Hamburg when John and George visited her at her parents' house; she took photos of the two both together and individually. This is one of those and one that she particular likes. Note that this is one of only 200 made from the superior dye transfer process, the other 1000 were lithographs. A signed 6" x 4" b&w photo postcard of Ms. Kirchherr is included as well as the numbered (#132) and signed original certificate of authenticity. The text of the COA can be found on our website. Excellent. COA from Heritage Auctions.
