    Description

Jazz - Twenty-One Unpublished Color Stereoscopic Slides Of Louis Armstrong's Fiftieth Birthday Party (July, 1950). All original glass slides with"Character Arts, Cleveland, Ohio" paper label with typed details of artist, venue and date. The images include "Satchmo" performing on stage with his All Star Band, cutting his birthday cake and another candid shot of him standing in his dressing room without any trousers on! There are also images of Armstrong with guests including Duke Ellington and Tallulah Bankhead. All slides measure approximately 4" x 1.75". Generally the slides are in Fine to Excellent condition, with some loss to trim on slides, discoloration to labels. One slide is cracked otherwise the actual images are in Excellent condition.
