Elvis Presley Four Vintage Photographs with Negatives and all Rights (1958). These 3.5" square B&W snapshots are accompanied by the 2.25" negatives as well as a modern set of 5" prints. All four shots show a fairly short-haired Elvis (he was in the Army at the time) in a hotel hallway with some young guys and gals. On the original sleeve for the negatives is written "ΣΑΕ Party - Elvis Aug 9 58". These photos were taken at the Western Hills Inn in Euless, Texas (long since demolished). By many accounts, this was Elvis' favorite place to hang out while in the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area. Apparently, he would spend leave time there while he was at Fort Hood. How lucky for the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity (possibly from nearby TCU) that happened to be having a party at the same time to get to hang out with Elvis and maybe even hear a few tunes (in one photo he is holding a guitar). Excellent condition.
The jovial Elvis shown in these photos was about to suffer a loss that he would never quite get over. These photos are dated August 9, 1958 (Saturday). His beloved mother Gladys had been ill most of the summer of 1958. On the 12th, Elvis obtained emergency leave and flew to Memphis to visit her in the hospital; she died on August 14th and her funeral was the next day. A little more than a month later, Elvis was on his way to Germany with his Army battalion.
