Beatles - Extraordinary and Remarkably Large Autographed Photograph From the Beatles '65 Album Cover Shoot (Circa late 1964). Black and white measuring approximately 12" x 15" overall, made from the original negative. The photograph was taken by Robert Whitaker during the sessions for the album's cover art at London's Farringdon Studio in late 1964. The photograph is obviously from the series which the smaller middle photograph on the album cover was taken. The lads are posed around John's white umbrella as he examines a piece of photography equipment; Paul with arms folded, wears his "knotted handkerchief" and sunglasses (which he holds in his hands on the album cover shot); Ringo and George, a towel on his shoulder peruse one of Whitaker's portrait cameras (not seen in the final album shot). The autographs are signed in ballpoint pen: Paul has signed in blue ink over his right leg; John above his head in black ink; George above his head in blue ink and Ringo below his feet in blue ink. The photo is in very good condition with eight small tack holes - one in each corner, three along the top edge and one between George and Ringo's legs. The lower edges are bent - one folded back but still attached and there is some modest creasing overall. The image has some uniform toning. The signatures are just slightly faded. The photograph is accompanied by a letter of authentication from Frank Calazzo of The Beatles Autographs. The letter incorrectly states the photographer as Robert Freeman. COA From Heritage Auctions.
