Description

Beatles Collection of Thirteen Ed Sullivan Show-Related Glossy Photos. An amazing group of professional-quality 8" x 10" B&W photos, all taken in February 1964, the month that the Beatles traveled to America for the first time, appearing on the Sullivan show three consecutive weeks. Nine of these portray the Fab Four on stage; the other four are from their days in Miami before the February 16th show; as nice a group of photos as you're likely to find. Excellent.

    PROVENANCE:
This lot was consigned directly to Heritage Auctions by the former Emily Cole who was a production secretary on "The Ed Sullivan Show" in New York City throughout the 1960s. In this capacity, she had a varied job both "behind the scenes" during the week as well as in front of the camera before taping began, being a "color girl" - a duty that required her to stand in front of the camera so that the colors could be adjusted before the show. Emily was present at the now-historic taping of the Beatles on "The Sullivan Show" in February, 1964, and she even appears kneeling on stage behind Paul McCartney in one of the photographs.
