Tim Buckley/Roy Harper Middle Earth Concert Poster Original Art Signed by Michael English (Haphash and the Coloured Coat, 1968). London's Middle Earth venue played host to some of the hippest bands in England and beyond, featuring concerts by Pink Floyd, The Who, Soft Machine, Fairport Convention, and more (including Led Zeppelin, playing their first public show on November 9, 1968) in the short time the club operated, during the mid-to-late 1960s. Posters for Middle Earth shows were produced by the art collective Haphash and the Coloured Coat, aka Michael English and Nigel Weymouth. Their posters rivaled anything produced in San Francisco, but with with a distinctive British look. This lot includes the original artwork for the last poster the Haphash team designed, for a concert headlined by American singer/songwriter Tim Buckley. Other acts were also listed fro upcoming shows, including Pink Floyd, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Moody Blues, and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. The intricate art is in ink and graphite on illustration board, with an approximate image area of 19" x 29", matted and framed with glass for an overall size of 27.5" x 37.5" A similarly-sized second color piece, also ink on board, is also included, plus a small version of the printed poster, also framed with glass. Both original art pieces are signed by Michael English and are in Excellent condition.
