    Big Brother And The Holding Company Alternate Original Artwork By Alton Kelley For Be A Brother (Columbia, C 30222, 1970). Comprising a black and white photograph of the band applied to board, bordered by by a colorful psychedelic pen and ink, watercolor and airbrushed design incorporating the words "Big Brother & The Holding Company". Measures 14.4" x 14". In Fine condition. The photo is partly detached from the board and has surface wear and creases. The corners and edges of the board have some bumps and wear and there are some minor blemishes and marks to the artwork generally. The reverse has finger marks and blemishes and has been inscribed in black marker "Please Return To: David Getz" with the return address added.

    This artwork was originally intended for the cover of Be A Brother, which was released in 1970 and was the first album that Big Brother Brother released following Janis Joplin's departure from the band. Ultimately the band chose different artwork by photographer Bob Seidemann for the cover, though a color version of the photograph was used on the back cover of the album.
