The Beatles Swinging Lunch Time Sessions Handbill (1961). A very early piece of Beatles concert advertising from March 15, 1961, about as early as these things get. And it has great provenance... it's from the collection of the late Bob Wooler, who was a pivotal figure in the early Merseyside music scene, best known for having introduced the Beatles countless times at the Cavern Club.

The Liverpool Jazz Society distributed these flyers to draw attention to their regular lunchtime sessions of live music to bring in patrons. The "resident bands" were Gerry & the Pacemakers, who nobody would have guessed would have three #1 pop hits in England just two years later; Rory Storm and the Wild Ones, meaning Rory playing with a rotating cast of musicians instead of his usual Hurricanes; and The Big Three, close associates of the Beatles.

And then on Wednesday afternoon, March 15, the Beatles headlined a big afternoon five-hour special. After the group had played their usual lunchtime spot at the Cavern that day, they hauled their equipment over to the LJS and joined the festivities, first appearing at 2:00 PM.

Flyer measures approx.. 5 1/4 x 7 1/4" and graded Very Good Plus with some light spotting. LOA from Tracks Ltd. and COA from Heritage Auctions.
