    Description

The Beatles Rubber Soul Capitol Promo Display Paper Posters (2) Without the Boards (1965). Very unusually, this is a set of two promotional Beatles' Rubber Soul display components: the full-color album cover and the red & green sales pitch. Capitol took these sheets, cut them down and wrapped them around cardboard to create the very rare store display (which we sold for $7,500 last year). This lot consists of two sheets, or posters if you will: One in full color and a second "progressive," which left the LP cover without the colors that created the brown. Measuring 25 x 38", they grade as Very Good with creasing throughout and small tears along the bottom portion and corner wear. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The posters/sheets did suffer some damage when their shipping tube got dinged; there are various small breaks in the color and crinkles in the white paper in the areas that were affected. The two also have general handling surface creases that glossy paper easily accumulates over the years.

Although meant as components for a super-rare cardboard display, these sheets could easily frame up as a spectacular (and authentic) 1965 Capitol Records promo poster for one of their most popular and groundbreaking albums ever. Everyone else has the two-color vertical Rubber Soul promo poster; this would serve as a bigger, full-color, horizontal Capitol Records promo piece printed in 1965. And my, what a difference it makes to see that album cover in full color, instead of sepia-tone.

Altogether, six of these posters/sheets were found, and Heritage has been auctioning them off in pairs - one full color and one 'green progressive' paired together. This is the third and final lot... it's now or never!
