The Beatles Original New Sound Guitar (UK, 1964) Also Reproduction Copy Rare Red Back (Hong Kong) (2). When the Beatles came along many fans wanted to pick up a guitar. Here are a few examples that filled the need. 1) A 23" long x 8" across cream-colored and orange plastic guitar with separate printed images of each Beatle on the body above facsimile autographs. Text at bottom reads: "Beatles/ New Sound Guitar/ Selcol Products Limited/ Made in England under licence." No label on headstock, has a 1 ¾" crack on front, some chipping and a 1" crack on the bottom. 2) Also included is an obvious attempt at copying the Selcol model with this Hong Kong-made piece. This one has much the same style but is smaller at 20" x 6.25"; some wear with rare red backing and no licensing text at the bottom. From The Connie and Dennis Dailey Monumental Beatles Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.
