Allegedly this NEMS-licensed product was put out by American singer Pat Boone. His records were not faring well amidst the onslaught by the Beatles and fellow British acts. He has talked about it in several interviews. "I couldn't sell records so I sold prints of the Beatles," he said. He hired a portrait painter (Leo Jansen) and "...had him paint a picture, individual and group portrait of the Beatles and then I knew a guy in the marketing business and we lithographed these prints. Put 'em in packages, put a numbered stub in the packages and sold 'em all over the country through Sears and I was making more money selling Beatles pictures than selling my own records."
The portraits are becoming hard to find still sealed in the package. The display and shipping box is virtually non-existent so pick up this rare and wonderful example of Beatles history. COA from Heritage Auctions. From the Connie and Dennis Dailey Monumental Beatles Collection.
