Jimi Hendrix Annotated Garfield High Yearbook (1961). An original 1961 Garfield High yearbook from Seattle, Washington that features a small annotation from Hendrix next to his photograph: in black ink he writes "Music/ Muzak/ Musik/ 'Ro.'" The "Ro" he's addressing is Rosemary Williamson, a junior-year Honor's student who attended the school at the same time as the Rock legend, and to whom this yearbook originally belonged. Though Hendrix was in Rosemary's junior class, he would drop out before completing high school to focus on his musical career. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army a year after this high school memento was created, his meteoric rise to musical superstardom would begin, with Hendrix becoming the man who changed the sound, tone, and feel of Rock guitar forevermore. A wonderful artifact giving us a glimpse into the early life of an artist the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has dubbed "arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of Rock music." Interestingly, this yearbook also features sophomore Linda Emery, who would go on to marry international martial-arts superstar Bruce Lee in 1964. Measures 11" x 9" x 1". In Fine condition, with some wear to the cover, light soiling to the interior, and some separation occurring at the binding. COA from Heritage Auctions.
