Elvis Presley Rare Love Me Tender Doll (EPE, 1956). We've only offered one other example of this rarity, and this one is in much nicer condition. Produced to capitalize on the King's popularity in his breakout year of 1956 and on the immediate success of his first feature film, the doll is Elvis' screen character Clint Reno complete with plaid shirt, denim trousers, black belt, and non-period blue suede shoes! Wonder where that came from! The doll comes with a copy of its original ad, where it was offered for $3.98 "plus 27¢ postage and packing". The mini-E is in remarkable condition, Very Fine, with the shoelaces exhibiting some wear, the socks showing some loss of elasticity, and with a small piece out of Elvis' right index finger. Jerry Osborne's Presleyana VII NM value for this doll without its original box = $3500.
