Cavern Club Microphone with Engraved Identification, of the Shure 55S "Elvis Mic" Style. A heavy, high-quality stand microphone, 2" x 7.25" x 3" deep, with the number "GM55" printed on the on-off switch and "Property Of/ Cavern Club/ Liverpool/ Do Not Remove" engraved on the lower side; there are threaded stand and three-pin male XLR connectors at bottom. Several companies have issued mics with this part number including T.bone and GYC, but they are all copies and variations of the legendary Shure Model 55 Unidyne first introduced in 1939. We don't know specifically which of your favorite singers used this microphone at the Cavern, home of the Beatles, but its style is legend. It would certainly be an attractive addition to your collection display. Just picture these famous scenes in your mind: Harry Truman holding up the "Dewey Defeats Truman" newspaper; Fidel Castro on the cover of LIFE Magazine in 1959; and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. making his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. All of these show a Shure 55 model microphone. Almost forgot- remember the 1993 Elvis 29¢ US postage stamp? That's a microphone much like this one that he's holding. Very little wear evident, not tested. Excellent condition.
