Bob Dylan Rolling Thunder Revue 1976 Mirror Display for Crew Only. A highly unusual and rare item from Bob Dylan's famous Rolling Thunder Revue tour of 1975-76. This fun crew souvenir, created after the 1976 portion of the tour was over and given to the performers and behind-the-scenes participants, is comprised of a decorative mirror and a protective sheet of glass over it, the way they all were made. Printed on the mirror is the well-known RTR central artwork used for the tour, in this case listing Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Bob Neuwirth, Roger McGuinn and Kinky Friedman.

The perimeter consists of 22 colorful RTR pins that were used as backstage passes, color-coded for different nights (also see accompanying lot for more pins). There's also a fully unused ticket for 19 of the tour's 22 stops, fanned out at the bottom (real tickets, not facsimiles). And then a large box lists all the participants and contributors to the tour and is signed, "Thank you all... Barry Imhoff, 1976." Lou Kemp is listed about halfway through. We don't know if everyone in the box received a mirror, but it can be presumed. Still, this is the first time Mr. Kemp, or anybody, can recall seeing one of these for public sale or auction. Most of the recipients probably kept theirs, and many were probably broken in moves over the decades.

This framed piece measures 24 3/8" x 38 ¼" and grades to Very Good Minus condition. This lot includes a personally signed and inscribed copy of Louie Kemp's book, made out to the winner, including a Dylan-ephemera bookmark that Louie designed. COAs from Louie Kemp and Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The unused tickets at the bottom have significantly faded with time; six of them have complete groups of words missing due to the fading, through prolonged exposure to florescent lights or sunlight. The frame is nicked a lot around the edges, especially in the two lower corners. There are dark flecks on the mirror or glass in the upper left quadrant. The deterioration you see around the buttons, such as the upper left red button and the orange button three down on the right, is visual and on the mirror underneath; it is smooth to the touch, so it's not on the glass overlay. There's also a small surface scrape of missing material on the mirror above Joan Baez's picture. The brown paper on the verso is a little bit scratched, nicked and dinged in a couple of places, very common for framed versos.
