DescriptionBeatles Vintage Curtain Panel in Blue and Red with Related Historical Information and Photos (Holland, 1964). A 68" x 58" panel manufactured by N.V. Stoomweverij Nijverheid of Holland under license, in Excellent condition. Included with the lot are several other interesting items: a bookweight 7" x 5" B&W photo of the Beatles meeting Princess Margaret at the reception for A Hard Day's Night on July 6, 1964, showing curtains of matching fabric on the wall behind the group and Her Royal Highness; a snapshot color photo of a dress made from similar material; and a 1995 letter from the Netherlands Textile Museum to Uwe Blaschke regarding the material. The most important piece, especially to Beatle historians, is a page from Het Vrije Volk (The Free People), a Dutch daily newspaper dated March 20, 1964, with an article and photo regarding the company who made these curtains, and also dresses and material. It discusses that Stoomweverij was given rights to print these fabrics worldwide (save for England) and was rushing them to market very quickly. The photo shows a model holding a design that, to our knowledge, was never released. Please view our website for translations of the letter and this newspaper article (partial). From the Uwe Blaschke Beatles Collection.
Industry press as the only The Beatles and curtain dress fabric.
(The Free People Friday, March 20th, 1964) (Het Vrije Volk- social-democratic daily newspaper)
