DescriptionBeatles - "Rosi" Ceramic Pig-Shaped Tip Jar From The Star-Club (Hamburg, 1960s).
This possibly one-of-a-kind item is a rare survivor of the original Star-Club, and a wonderful decorative piece as well. "Rosi, das Star-Club-Glucksschwein" (Rosi, the Star-Club Lucky Pig) would have been placed in a location within the Star-Club where patrons might leave tips, perhaps at the bar or coat-check. She is crafted in a lovely glazed white ceramic, approximately 13" x 10" x 11", decorated with hand-painting and transfers in a bright floral pattern. A 1.5" slot is on her back where the tips would have been inserted, with text in German (some worn away) beckoning alms which will bring good luck to the tipper! On her belly on the underside is an approximate 1" square opening for the removal of the tips. In overall Excellent condition given age and usage, some slight craquelure throughout the body, the aforementioned text wear at the tip slot on her back (where is would be expected) and a slight .125" loss of glaze on her left ear. From the Uwe Blaschke Beatles Collection.
