Beatles Related - Rory Storm and The Hurricanes Business Cards, Late 1950s to Early 1960s. In the late 1950s the biggest group on the Liverpool music scene wasn't (yet) the Beatles, it was Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. Led by the tall and handsome Storm, the group was playing professionally by 1957, while the lesser-known Beatles, still called The Quarrymen, were struggling to define themselves. In 1959 the Hurricanes lineup became especially notable when drummer Richie Starkey came on board, and it was during his time with the Hurricanes that he developed his stage persona as Ringo Starr. The Beatles and The Hurricanes grew to be friendly musical rivals, and by the end of 1960 were sharing a residency at the Kaiserkeller club in Hamburg. As the Beatles star rose, Ringo was recruited to replace Pete Best in the summer of 1962, just before the recording of "Love Me Do". Brian Epstein later produced one of Rory and the Hurricanes' several single recordings. The business cards here date to the late 50s and early 60s and are in Excellent condition, still crisp with no bends, or creases. Both cards consist of the same contact information on the front, while one, likely the earlier of the two, lists a number of the group's accomplishments from 1957-59 on the back. COA from Tracks UK for the two-sided card.
