Beatles Related: Invitation to Join Liverpool's Blue Angel Club (1961). The Blue Angel Club of Liverpool has a colorful distinction in pop music history. It was here on May 10, 1960, that "The Silver Beetles" auditioned for the club's owner, impresario Larry Parnes -- who failed to hire them. In 1961 the Beatles' manager Allan Williams ran the club and the Beatles and the Rolling Stones reputedly played this Merseybeat locale. This is an 8" x 10" invitation that Williams sent out for The Blue Angel's March 22, 1961 opening under his management, the first paragraph reading, "May we extend our reserved invitation to become a founder-member of the Blue Angel Club; tastful (sic) in decor and luxuriously furnished, occupying three floors, comparable only with West End establishments and catering for ladies and gentlemen of taste." The opening night's headliner would be Alma Williams. The illustration shows Marlene Dietrich in her notorious role of Lola-Lola in the 1930 film The Blue Angel. Very Fine condition. A true Beatles legend and lore curio.
