Beatles - John Lennon / Yoko Ono Double Fantasy Promotional Stand-Up with Photos (1980). Fantastic record store promotional stand-up, showing a b&w cut-out image of Lennon and Yoko, with their names and album title in a plain font below. Used to promote Double Fantasy, Lennon's only album since 1975's Shaved Fish. Tragically, it would be the erstwhile Beatle's last. John Lennon was shot dead by Mark David Chapman three weeks after this album's release. The black and white photography of the stand-up, and Lennon's somber face seem to predict the depressive atmosphere that would permeate the lives of fans mere weeks later. Measures 26" x 39". In addition, this lot includes two wonderful 8" x 10" glossy photograph of John & Yoko. Very few of these ever made it to stores. Includes the original box. In Very Good condition, showing signs of wear around the bottom edges. From Bill's the "mo" Years at Warner Brothers Collection.

    More Information:

Says Bill of the piece: "Yoko Ono did not like the stand-ups after the murder of John, so I was asked to personally destroy three pallets of the stand-ups with a band saw. To my knowledge, there were only about 20 left. Six went to the WB vault, six to ten went to Geffen, a few went to executives and I received a couple for doing the project."
