Beatles - Apple Our First Four Promotional Package (UK, Apple Records, 1968). Just like anything relating to the Beatles at the time, it was quite a big deal when they founded Apple Records in 1968! Understandably the label went all out promoting itself - in this example, a slick promotional kit was put together to be distributed to the "movers and shakers" of the recording industry, that included copies of the first four 45 single releases by the new company; hence, the kit's title Our First Four. The singles: the Beatles' "Hey Jude"/ "Revolution" (Apple 5722); Mary Hopkin's "Those Were the Days"/ "Turn Turn Turn" (Apple 2); Jackie Lomax's "Sour Milk Tea"/ "The Eagle Laughs at You" (Apple 3); and Black Dyke Mills Band's "Thingumybob"/ "Yellow Submarine" (Apple 4), produced by Sir Paul McCartney himself. Each 45 came in a mini-portfolio, with artist "liner notes" on the front, the record in a plastic sleeve on the first inside page, and a photo of the artist on the other inside page. The back was blank. The outer box measures approximately 10" x 14", and is in Very Good condition, with considerable wear, though each mini-portfolio is Excellent. As for the disc conditions "Hey Jude" is MT-9. while the other three are EX-7 with "foggy" vinyl from being left in the plastic sleeves so long.
