A Group of Cavern Club Items, Including Bob Wooler Signature (UK, 1962-64). The Beatles performed nearly 300 times at the Cavern Club on Mathew Street, the club most associated with the group. It was here that Brian Epstein first witnessed the Beatles in performance in November 1961 after receiving requests for "My Bonnie," leading to his management of the band and their subsequent success. Here is a nice grouping of items which celebrate the club and the Beatles' relationship to it. There are four separate membership card booklets - one from 1962 (used, Good), one from 1963 (used, Good, with several autographs), and two from 1964 (both unused, Very Good, one with an autograph by Bob Wooler in black marker). The member card booklets also with a newspaper advertisement from June 1962 (likely from Mersey Beat), which reads "CONGRATULATIONS TO PETE, PAUL, JOHN AND GEORGE AND THE BOYS ON THEIR SUCCESSFUL ENGAGEMENTS IN GERMANY **** SEE THEM AT THE BEATLES 'WELCOME HOME' PERFORMANCE AT THE CAVERN ON SATURDAY JUNE 9th". Another clipping from the same period, possibly the same issue, offers a story on the opening night at the Star-Club and notes the same June 9th Cavern Club appearance. A photo of the Beatles appears with the article, and at some point Pete Best was defaced with blue ink, and a notation "RINGO FOREVER X" was added. From the Uwe Blaschke Beatles Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.
