Johnny Cash, Statlers, June Carter & Carl Perkins 1968 Salem, VA Concert Poster. A commanding Hatch Show Print jumbo window card for the touring Johnny Cash Show appearing at the Salem-Roanoke Valley Civic Center in Salem, Virginia on Friday night, September 20, 1968.

The poster shows a full-length image of the Man in Black with guitar in hand. This was such a terrific time in Johnny's career. He was touring off of Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison, his best-selling album to date. And he was right in the middle of three straight #1 country singles, all spending at least a month at the top of Billboard's C&W chart: "Folsom Prison Blues," "Daddy Sang Bass" and "A Boy Named Sue."

The rest of the poster was very much Johnny's standard touring revue through much of the 60's: his back-up group the Tennessee Three; the Statler Bros., three years after their crossover hit "Flowers on the Wall"; June Carter, who had married Johnny earlier that year but kept her stage name; her sisters The Carter Family, of course; and the legendary Carl Perkins, author of "Blue Suede Shoes" and practically the inventor of rockabilly.

Measures 22" x 28" and grades to repaired Very Good condition. Poster once had a very strong fold from top to bottom, running through the "W" in "Show," the second "N" in "Johnny," the "R" in "Carter" and down to the "S" in "Perkins." The sharp crease has been professionally repaired, including touch-up done on any breaks in the black or red ink that appeared (now gone). The poster's upper left, upper right and lower left corners also had some restoration work done to them, including touch-up on the lettering. Light toning from age is present throughout. The verso does show its age with drink-glass rings and general dirt apparent. COA from Heritage Auctions.

The movie quite literally changed my life. I have included a pic of me in Sly's Rocky 3 Cashmere overcoat, would much appreciate if it is possible for you to forward this email to Sly to let him know the overcoat is in good hands, and will be well taken care of, (as will be the Rambo knife forging tools, the other lot I won!) Wish you very happy holidays and a great 2016!
