    Description

John Lennon and Yoko Ono Double Fantasy LP Inner Sleeve Signed on December 8, 1980, with Added Caricatures (Geffen GHS 2001, 1980). A notched promo copy of this, Lennon's seventh studio album, with the inner sleeve signed in blue felt tip: "To KCPX Love, Yoko Ono" and "John Lennon [added caricatures of him and Yoko] 1980". Double Fantasy was released on November 17, 1980, after Lennon's five year hiatus from recording while he helped raise his son Sean. The album was a combination of Lennon and Ono songs, arranged in alternating order, essentially a musical dialogue between these two soulmates. Naturally, there were a number of interviews given in order to promote the new record. One of those interviews took place on the afternoon of December 8, 1980, with Dave Sholin of RKO Radio Network and Bert Keane, National Promotion Director for Warner/ Geffen Records. It was at that 2½-hour interview that Keane had John and Yoko sign this record for his friend Gary Waldron of KCPX radio in Salt Lake City. On December 16th, Keane sent it to Waldron with a note that read: "Gary, A special signature for a special friend. Have a great holiday! My love to the family, Bert". Waldron had been planning to use it as a "give away" promotional item, but with the tragic event that occurred later that fateful December day, he decided that he couldn't possibly part with it at that time. His decision to keep the album in his collection for many years has led to your chance to bid on this overwhelmingly sentimental and important collectible, one of the very last autographs John Lennon ever signed. The above-mentioned note is included as well as a signed Certificate of Authenticity from Bert Keane explaining the sequence of events that day (transcribed on our website), and a newspaper article regarding the album from The Salt Lake Tribune. Don't miss out on this historical piece.
