Jimmie Rodgers Signed Letter and Display (1920). We rarely see signed items from "The King of Country Music" in large part because he lived to only age 35 and died over 80 years ago! This framed 22.25" x 22.25" includes a letter dated March 2, 1920 from the 22-year old Rodgers while he was in Monroe, LA to his Aunt Dara in his hometown of Meridian, MS. These were tough times, and Rodgers alternated between attempting to be upbeat ("I am going to send you $10" and "I have a very good job") and revealing his hardships ("I have had to pawn my watch" and "...if you can spare $5"). Each page of the three page letter is in pencil and measures 8" x 4.75". Signed, "your nephew James." The frame also includes an 8" x 9" color print of Rodgers and a First Day Cover from the US Postal Service, postmarked May 24, 1978 from Meridian, MS, part of the service's Performing Arts Series. COA from Heritage Auctions.
