DescriptionPrince Owned And Played Custom Made Signature Yellow Cloud Guitar (Circa 1988-1994).
Bright yellow solid body electric guitar of the shape and style made famous by Prince, serial number PM 16644. All metal hardware is gold colored, including Schaller tuners, a Floyd Rose Original tremolo (with bar), one volume knob, one tone knob, one three-way switch, nut and truss rod cover. Two EMG pickups: the bridge has a humbucker pickup, the neck has a single coil pickup. The twenty-two fret fingerboard is decorated on the front and sides with black markers in the form of Prince's "spade" symbol. There is a label to the back of the body reading "Property of PRN MUSIC CORP. PM 16644". The guitar is included with a custom hard case with a matching label bearing the same serial number "16644". The guitar and case are accompanied by an LOA from Prince's former guitar technician Zeke Clark and seven Prince guitar picks of six different designs and colors. Overall in Fair to Good condition. The neck has been expertly repaired and the guitar is otherwise Excellent in appearance.
Styling and construction cues such as the "Prince symbol" fret markers and neck through construction indicate that this guitar was built by master luthier Andy Beech in the late 1980's/early 1990's.
According to Prince's former guitar technician Zeke Clark "This Yellow Cloud guitar was Princes (sic) main guitar & used in most of his early videos & touring performances & album recordings. From around 1988-1994. In 1994 he broke the neck of this guitar at a French T.V. show. After returning to U.S.A. I repaired neck & installed the first Floyd Rose set up Prince ever played. And then used in recording more albums, up until the symbol guitar was born. After the symbol guitar he wanted 24 additional cloud guitars made to be sold at his outlet store. The Floyd Rose (yellow cloud) serial P.M. 16644 & case. P.M. 16643 was the 1st. Zeke Clark".
Controversial, innovative, and most of all an exceedingly skilled musician, Prince (born Prince Rogers Nelson, June 7, 1958 - April 21, 2016) excelled in seamlessly blending Pop, Rock, Soul, Funk, Blues, and Electronic music into an inventive, yet instantly-recognizable style that was as influential as it was marketable. With over 100 million records sold worldwide, mountains of awards and accolades, and a catalog of releases more prolific than many artists with careers twice as long, Prince is an artist that defied genre, stereotypes, record labels, and complacency. This guitar, like everything about the enigmatic virtuoso, is uniquely Prince.
