Ike & Tina Turner Revue 1967 Hot Pink & Yellow Day-Glo Concert Poster (AOR-1.72) An original oversized cardboard window card for the Ike & Tina Turner Revue at the Wooden Shoe Ballroom in Portland, OR for two shows on Sunday night, March 5, 1967.

This wild, red-and-yellow-flames design was used by Ike & Tina through much of the 60's to tremendous effect. Calling themselves "The World's Most Exciting Show" in the headline, they needed a poster design to match, and they pretty much hit a home run with this wildly popular design. The Day-Glo colors just reach out and grab you, and all the sunbursts, circles, different type fonts and many song titles give the window card a strong feeling of action. You can almost reach out and touch Tina going nuts in that shimmering mini-dress...

A real nice added attraction of this 1967 version of the poster is the prominent song title "River Deep - Mountain High," their Phil Spector-produced classic that Rolling Stone magazine ranked at #33 on its list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time." Even Spector himself considers it his best work, and in 1999 it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. On the charts it barely made a whimper in America, but it went all the way to #3 in England, and is considered an influential masterpiece. And this is the only Ike & Tina Turner concert poster you'll find it mentioned on.

Poster measures a pleasurably oversized 17 x 28 1/4" and grades to Very Good Plus condition, with one thumbtack hole in each corner, a little bit of surface grime, three slightly bumped or creased corners, a couple of light white lines in the pink on Ike's solo photo but which don't go onto his face, and four large "tape lifts" on the back where it was once taped up for public display.
