Fats Domino Cashbox Award for "Best Rhythm & Blues Male Vocalist" (1955). Rare, prestigious award from the 1950s' leading recording industry publication, with a brass placard on the award's marble base stating it was presented to R&B / early Rock N' Roll icon Fats Domino "In Behalf of the Automatic Music Industry of America". 1955 was a big year for Fats, and with his mega-hit "Ain't That a Shame" released in April of that year, it's no surprise Domino won this honor. The song is an immortal Rock N' Roll classic, having been covered by artists as diverse as Cheap Trick, John Lennon, the Four Seasons, and others. Measures approximately 15.5" inches in height, with the base measuring 4" x 3". In Fine condition, with several small indentations to the Cashbox "record" at the top of the award, minor chipping to the corners of the marble base, the placard showing some separation from the base near the top, and a small amount of patina on the hands of the statuette.
