Along with Loretta Lynn, singer Tammy Wynette defined the role of female country vocalists in the '70s, and dominated the country charts during the late '60s and early '70s, scoring 17 number one hits. Featured is a proclamation from the Tennessee House of Representatives honoring Wynette for her music and accomplishments and naming her the First Lady of Country Music, issued February 10, 1986, and signed by then-governor Lamar Alexander as well as the Speaker of the Senate and Speaker of the House.
