Elvis Presley Mid-50's Personal Appearance Contract. Although it defies belief a little bit, this is actually an original, genuine Elvis Presley "Personal Appearance Contract" from the dawn of the King's career on RCA Records. It's hard to believe that something so legal and official would also be so attractive and adorned with 27 photographs, but it's true, and Graceland itself has sold this before in their occasional official auctions.

It's a sheer delight to behold, with the famous debut-LP-cover "tonsil shot" of Elvis being so prominently displayed. The red color adds a snazzy touch, and notice "The Nation's Only Atomic Powered Singer," a sobriquet that RCA and Colonel Tom Parker used for a short while very early on.

Measures 8 5/8" x 36 1/2" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Graceland has described this as being from late 1955 (must have been very late), the year 1956 is obvious, there's been one seen filled out from 1957, and some have suggested '58 but Army-bound Elvis didn't play any concerts that year. So it's very safe to shoot down the middle and call this 1956-57.

The only reason something this amazing could come on the market is that a small stash of them was liberated once upon a time. They were probably considered too attractive or cool to dispose of. Good thing for Elvis collectors to this day.

When you read the details of the agreement down below, you can see that this is a Colonel Tom Parker piece all the way.

Condition details: Has three horizontal folds/creases which are commonly found on this piece, necessitated by its extreme vertical configuration, plus a very light one right above "Motion Picture" toward the bottom. It's very fortuitous the way the big center crease falls right between two paragraphs.

There's also a slightly creased upper left corner, a lightly dinged edge along the right of Elvis's big picture, and slight surface creases under the bottom star to the right of Elvis's big picture and above "Manager" way down at the bottom. Also a dot or printing imperfection to the right of "Radio."
