Stevie Ray Vaughan: Early Version of Lyrics to the Song "Couldn't Stand the Weather" in Vaughan's Hand. Penned in blue ink on an 8.5" x 10.75" sheet of yellow ruled paper, this is an earlier version of the lyrics to the title track from Vaughan's second studio album, recorded in New York City in January 1984. Comprised of 16 lines (which differs from the final version) with chord notations in the left margin, see all the lyrics at

Sometime after initially writing down his lyrics, Vaughan went back and made adjustments to the order, indicated by the numbers to the left of the lines. Overall water staining has caused some bloom of the text and overall wrinkling of the paper. Very small tears are seen at the right and left edges though they do not affect the text. Lower left corner stained. COA from Heritage Auctions.

"1 Passin' thru this business of life

2 Raisin' sand when it's needed too

3 Not too funny when the feelin is strife

4 Daddy's hand helps me see it thru

8 With our friend we continue to prove do

All the things we've lived to prove

6 You and I spent several years together

I see that we (we) just couldn't stand the weather

5 Sweet as sugar love don't wash away

Rain or shine it's always there to stay

We deal with trials and tribulations

7 Like the train stops at every station

We all must deal with trials and tribulations

10 Don't just think I'm tryin to be heavy

Understand now's the time to get ready

9 Changes come before they can go

Hope we see them before we're too old"

The movie quite literally changed my life. I have included a pic of me in Sly's Rocky 3 Cashmere overcoat, would much appreciate if it is possible for you to forward this email to Sly to let him know the overcoat is in good hands, and will be well taken care of, (as will be the Rambo knife forging tools, the other lot I won!) Wish you very happy holidays and a great 2016!
