Merle Haggard Executive Pardon Issued by Then-Governor of California, Ronald Reagan (1972). Vintage original executive pardon printed on 8 1/2" x 13" paper with "Executive Department / State of California" in blue at the top left, the California state seal affixed to the bottom left, and the secretarial/autopen signature of Ronald Reagan above the text "Governor of California". Typed text reads in part: "Merle Ronald Haggard, of Bakersfield, California, has submitted to this office an application for executive clemency." The document goes on to list Haggard's two convictions, and states as Haggard had been convicted of more than one felony, his case was taken to the Supreme Court of California. The final paragraph states that Governor Reagan granted Merle Haggard a full, unconditional pardon. Dated March 1, 1972. Document exhibits staple holes at the top-left, some minor toning, soiling, and foxing due to handling and age, horizontal and vertical folds, and general handling wear.
