Bob Dylan Performance Contract for Colston Hall in Bristol, England, May 10, 1966. A multi-page standard 8" x 13" agreement from the Bristol Corporation Entertainment Committee hiring Dylan to perform at concert for a £75 "Rental Charge." It is signed on page five by Dylan's manager and by the "Hirer." This was the kick-off concert for Dylan's first British tour since "going electric" at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. His performances were divided into two parts, the first a solo acoustic set by Dylan with guitar and harmonica. In the second set, Dylan was backed by an electric band, The Hawks (later known as the Band). A little research shows that this particular concert didn't go over so well with the attendees. The local newspaper critic wrote in her review (in part): ""During the first half, the audience patiently listened as he belched his way solo through half a dozen marathons - in an unbroken chain. Where was the Dylan stage presence we have heard so much about? The second part of the evening was spent listening to beat music 'a la Bob Dylan' - with the volume turned on full. Two guitarists, a drummer and an organist accompanied Mr. Dylan. The resulting rivalry was wearying and not very enjoyable." The audience reportedly was not silent in its disapproval of this concert, with many boos heard across the hall. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity from Tracks signed by Paul Wane. One vertical crease and some general wear, else fine.
