    Description

The Who Related - John Entwistle Personally-Owned Velvet Jacket from Granny Takes a Trip, Circa Late 1960s. A royal blue velvet suitcoat with black trim from his personal wardrobe. There is a "Granny Takes a Trip/ The World's End" label sewn into the inside pocket. Based on the label style, this coat dates from the late 1960s to early 1970s. It features rounded lapels, a three button single-breasted, four pocket front with black piping at the slit pockets, black cuffs and trim, and double vents. We found a pre-tied lavender bow tie in one pocket. Signs of being worn, yet still in extremely fine condition. It's really easy to imagine a member of The Who wearing this gorgeous jacket back in the day. Can you imagine yourself wearing it to your next gig or party?

Granny Takes a Trip was a hip London boutique that opened in February 1966 at 488 Kings Road, Chelsea, London. Previously, this area of Chelsea had been quite unfashionable, thus the nickname "World's End." Within months of opening though, the world was beating a path to this psychedelic shop in groovy London. Many of the rock stars of the period shopped there and a lot of the jackets they purchased similar to this one can be seen today on the walls of the various Hard Rock Cafes around the world. Don't let this one slip by you.
