Description

Liberace Costume Known as "Mr. Showmanship" because of his stage appearances filled with flamboyant outfits, flashy jewelry and mirror-covered baby grand pianos, Liberace captivated his audiences with stage shows that matched his artistry on the piano. Liberace earned six gold albums, two Emmy Awards and two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame over the course of his decades-long career.

Featured here is an original costume worn by Liberace in his shows. This black six-piece ornate suit includes one black beaded jacket with overlapping cuffs, one black beaded vest, one pair of black beaded pants, one white long sleeve shirt with black buttons and ruffled wrist cuffs, one white Jobot-style neck collar with lace trimmed frill, and one pair of black leather dress shoes. The jacket exhibits some areas of minor fraying; otherwise, the suit is in Fine condition. The consignor of the ensemble acquired this costume and an additional jacket from Vince Cardell (Liberace protégé, friend, and impersonator). The jacket has since been sold, however, the Cardell COAs were switched prior to de-acquisition. This piece was subsequently grouped with the jacket's COA. When the corresponding COA is returned, Heritage will exchange it with winner of this black costume.
