Hank Williams Owned and Worn Suit, Shirt, and Tie. Widely recognized as the greatest Country singer/songwriter of all time, the mercurial "Singing Kid" created his legend in a few short years from 1947 to 1953, during which he scored 11 classic C&W #1 hits, six #2s, and 18 other Top Ten hits among 38 charting singles. His unique singing style set Williams apart, as did his dress. This ensemble was displayed for years at the Hank Williams Boyhood Home and Museum in Georgiana, AL. The grey suit with burnt-orange pinstripes features a double-breasted coat and matching pants from Brumfield's of Pascagoula, MS. The creme-colored Western shirt with pearl-colored snap-buttons bears the label "Red Myrick of Arizona", and the horsehead-motifed silk tie is from Selber Bros of Shreveport. Stylish even by today's standards, the suit's age (more than 60 years old!) is given away - upon close inspection - by several small snags probably more from the rigors of handling and display over the decades than from Williams' wearing it decades ago. The light-colored shirt shows moderate age-toning. One of our prized offerings from a legendary performer!Included with the clothing is a letter from the Hank Williams Boyhood Home/ Museum in Georgiana, Alabama, thanking the owner for the loan of the "authenticated Hank Williams suit, shirt and tie." It goes on to say: "During the years this display was at the Museum it was photographed numerous times and it also gave Hank fans an idea of how he dressed, even before Hank became the famous singer/ songwriter of later years..."
