Description

Elvis Presley Personally Owned Pink Shirt, Black Pants with Pink Accents, and Black and White Shoes (1955-56). Pink and black was a favorite color combination for Elvis, and Lansky Brothers (better known as just "Lansky's) his favorite clothier. So, this shirt and pants ensemble from the famed Memphis store winding up in the King's closet was practically pre-ordained!
The photo of Elvis in the shirt and pants beside Scotty Moore's wife Bobbie's 1953 Chevy says it all! It's the same Bel-Air that transported the trio of Elvis, Scotty, and Bill Black to their early gigs in 1954 and 1955. The photo included here is actually a remake of the original which was made in the parking lot at one of the boys' engagements.
Also included here is a pair of black and white winged-tip shoes similar to the ones in the aforementioned photo. A letter of provenance comes from Elvis' Aunt Delta Biggs, to whom Elvis had given all the items, and she alluded to Elvis having worn the shoes at times with the shirt and pants. The shoes are definitely from the same period, as documented by a separate photo of the band performing at the Sportatorium in Dallas in May, 1955. The wear and tear on the shoes is evident inside and out, indicative of having endured multiple performances by the hyperactive Elvis on stage!
From the Hillbilly Cat's early years, not yet the King of Rock and Roll, but ascending!
