Elvis Presley Personally Owned Pink and Black Shirt (Lansky's, 1956). Famed Memphis DJ Alex Ward's '50s program on Sirius XM Radio "Pink and Black Nights" is exemplified by this stylish shirt that Elvis wore in the mid-1950s. Naturally it's from Lansky's, his favorite clothing store, and the fashion is both quintessentially Lansky's and Elvis. If the wonderful color photo here looks familiar, you might have seen it in our Ultimate Elvis Auction in 2010, associated with the belt he's wearing in the photo. That item went for a cool $38,000 plus, so expect some spirited competition for this unique shirt, which ranks with the coolest items we're offering in the auction!
Amazingly, Vernon Presley donated the shirt to the Salvation Army in 1974, documented by his letter on TCB stationery that's included here. In the letter, Elvis' dad indicates "He wore this in 1956 and 1957 I think." That's borne out by the photos that accompany this lot, and which we're posting online at HA.com. We're especially fond of the black and white image of Elvis with his mother, Gladys. It's a shirt fit for the King!
