Elvis Presley Personally Owned Suit (Circa 1950s). From the golden age of Rock N' Roll and the first wave of Big E's reign as the number one cat in all of popular music, here is a 1950s Rockabilly-style outfit owned by the King. Consisting of: 1) a black, single-breasted one-button suit jacket, no size noted, shoulders measure approximately 17", label on the inside right breast reads "Lansky Brothers / Corner Beale and 2nd / Memphis, Tenn"; 2) a brown-and-tan longsleeved El Rancho shirt with a two-way collar, labeled size medium, 17.5" from shoulder to shoulder; 3) a pair of brown trousers with a brass zipper and button-and-clasp fly, no size noted, label reading "Tailored by McGregor / Made in U.S.A.", with "R. Johnson" written in black ink on the outer lining of the black front pocket. All items in Fin condition, showing little wear. Includes a signed and notarized LOA from Memphis Mafia member Richard Davis.

The R. Johnson whose name appears written on the pocket lining is likely one of two people: journalist Robert Johnson, who wrote for the newspapers The Commercial Appeal and the Press Scimitar. He was also a friend of Vernon and Elvis Presley, coined the name "Million Dollar Quartet", and was known to have both Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis memorabilia. The other is another Robert Johnson of Memphis, who appraised some Richard Davis and Alan Fortas Elvis clothing in the 1990s. It's believed that some of the clothing had problems with mold/dirt and needed repairing, and was taken to a Memphis dry cleaner, where his name was written on the pocket lining.
