Description
Elvis Presley Owned and Worn Lord Elgin Watch (Lord Elgin 21j, 1950s). Truly uniquely-styled, "direct read" watch worn by Elvis in the 1950s. Like so much of his jewelry and other possessions, after wearing it for a few years, Presley gave the watch away to a good friend. Charlie Hodge had been a friend since the mid-1950s, and after Elvis returned from the Army, Hodge worked for him in numerous capacities until Elvis' death. Elvis gave the watch to Hodge in the early 1960s. The watch still runs, and is in exceptional condition, from the flexible, gold wristband to the 14k gold-filled case itself (36 x 26mm). It has grade 719 manual wind movement with wandering minute and jump hour discs, and is really a striking piece of jewelry! Comes with its original case, and is accompanied by four posed photos of Elvis wearing the watch. LOA from Charlie Hodge.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection. Condition statements are offered as general guidance only, not as complete representations of fact, and do not constitute a warranty or assumption of liability by Heritage. Some condition issues may not be noted but may be visible in the photos, which are considered part of the condition report. Lots estimated at $1,000 or less are not de-framed for inspection, and we may be unable to provide additional details for lots valued under $500. Heritage does not guarantee the condition of frames and is not liable for damage to frames, glass/acrylic coverings, original boxes, display accessories, or artwork that has shifted in the frame.
