Description

Chet Baker Owned and Worn Clothing, Original Vintage Photographs, and Publications. Chet Baker signified good looks and a hip, international style, and here are two personal items of clothing from the last years of his life. The Paul Smith long-sleeved shirt is made of cotton, in black with white polka dots and one breast pocket. The turquoise blue Carrera jacket is also cotton with three slit pockets. Includes a collection of photographs of Chet playing on stage and relaxing with fans in a very similar-looking shirt, and with his companion Diane Vavra who is wearing the jacket. Additional photos show Chet in European performance with the musician Jacques Pelzer, on tour in Japan, and in the relaxed companionship of Diane Vavra in European locations. With these items are included an international collection of publications, including two Japanese tour books, a German concert publication, a French jazz magazine, the original UK edition of the cool jazz celebration The Hip, and Diane Vavra's copy of Chet's posthumously-published memoir, As Though I Had Wings. From the Diana Vavra Collection.
