Bob Dylan at Philharmonic Hall Concert Poster (Columbia Records, 1964). This authentic first-printing poster, the earliest Bob Dylan concert poster Heritage has offered to date, is one of the rarest Dylan posters of all time, with only a couple of other examples currently known to exist.
Dylan's famous "Halloween" show in New York, October 31, 1964 saw the artist in transition. The set list was still dominated by Dylan's protest songs like "The Times They Are a-Changin'" and included duets with Joan Baez, but three new songs pointed to Dylan's new direction, including a yet-to-be-released version of "Mr. Tambourine Man." Soon, with the release of his Bringing It All Back Home album on March 22, 1965, he would pretty much leave the civil rights and anti-war movements behind to follow a more introspective course and "go electric" with The Band.
The show itself was well received, and finally saw a legitimate release (after years of poor quality bootlegs) with The Bootleg Series Vol. 6 cd, in 2004. Rob Fitzpatrick on the British music tabloid NME gave it a 10 out of 10 rating, calling it "utterly brilliant."
The poster was printed in letterpress on brown kraft-type paper measuring approximately 14" x 21.5". It displays a slight bit of storage wear from being rolled and handled, and the reverse side shows a trace of staining, but this piece will display beautifully; overall condition is Very Good. For the serious Dylan collector, this is one not to miss.
