Description
Wham! Make it Big In-House "Worldwide Success" Award (Columbia CK 39595, 1984). A fantastic looking award showing a large photo of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, with text at the right of the photo detailing how huge Wham! had made it in the UK, US and Japan. The Columbia Records plaque beneath the promotional piece recognizes "8,000,000 and growing!" in sales and states the award was presented to musician Michael Scurlock, who has inscribed the award's verso in black felt pen. The inscription reads in part: "I first worked with George & Andrew at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas, Texas, circa 1987. This was with the 17 piece orchestra - dressed in white tuxedos, the fans in the packed house was as loud as it was for the Beatles in the 60s. It was amazing! I worked with George later on the "Faith Tour." He was always easy to work with and put on a hell of a performance. - Michael Scurlock / May 2003". Framed to an overall 27" x 22.25". In Very Good condition, with some sinking of the acrylic glass on the front, some tearing, moisture staining to the paper on the verso, and some chipping to the red mat and the frame's finish.Auction Info
