The Beatles Melody Maker Pop Poll Award (1965). The British weekly magazine Melody Maker began as a publication for musicians way back in 1926, and claimed to be the "world's oldest weekly music magazine, running continuously until 2000 when it merged with its chief publishing rival New Music Express. Offered here is the Melody Maker Pop Poll 1965 award for "Top Group/ Britain and World - Beatles", a 5" x 8" plaque with sterling silver figure inset, one of four presented to the members of the Beatles in 1965. The award was crafted by Garrard & Co. Ltd, and bears their hallmark in the lower left corner. In Fine to Very Fine condition with some tarnishing and scuffing. The snazzy award is accompanied by an issue of People magazine featuring a photo of Paul McCartney with his award, flanked by other award winners, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, and fellow Beatle, Ringo Starr.
