Description

Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here RIAA Gold Sales Award Presented to Album Assistant Engineer. A gold sales award presented to Peter James, who worked as an assistant engineer on the album. Released in 1975 as the follow-up to The Dark Side of the Moon, the band formerly known as the Pink Floyd Sound had another masterpiece on their hands. Lyrically, the theme of loss permeates the title track and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond." Roger Waters attributed this to his friend and former bandmate Syd Barrett, whose mental instabilities led him to leave the band seven years prior. Famously, Barrett showed up to a recording session at Abbey Road Studios one day and was unrecognizable due to significant weight gain and a shaved head. Despite the melancholy experiences, the album would later be hailed by David Gilmour and Richard Wright as one of their favorite albums of Pink Floyd's catalog.

Peter James worked with Brian Humphries to create a sound that it is still marveled today. Award measures 16 ¾" x 20 ¾". In Very Good Plus condition with various handling wear on the cover. COA from Heritage Auctions.
