Led Zeppelin RIAA Gold Record Award (Atlantic 8216, 1969). Led Zeppelin's self-titled debut helped usher in the era of Hard Rock, and was absolutely essential to the creation of its dark, rebellious offspring, Heavy Metal. It contains several monster hits that practically formed a new language in Rock & Roll. "Dazed and Confused," with it's plunging bass line, lurching guitar, and tortured wails precedes Black Sabbath's demonic intensity. "Good Times Bad Times" and "Communication Breakdown" are explosive, instant classics, while "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is filled with the mix of folksy passages, driving electric guitar, pounding drums, psychedelic experimentation, and soulful vocals that would become Zeppelin's trademark. This is a rare, wonderful piece that could be the jewel in the crown of any Zeppelin collector, as the award was presented to guitar god Jimmy Page himself in commemoration of the first half million sales, of what would eventually become 8,000,000 and counting. Framed to 17" x 21". Excellent condition.
