Description

Jimi Hendrix Rainbow Bridge RIAA White Mat Gold Record Sales Award (Reprise MS 2040, 1971). Hitting the market in October of 1971, Rainbow Bridge represented the second official posthumous release for Hendrix. A compilation of previously unreleased material and not, as the subtitle would suggest, an "Original Motion Picture Sound Track" to the film of the same name, Rainbow Bridge is notable for showcasing the evolution of Hendrix's nuanced guitar playing as it was near the end of his career. According to the plaque beneath the gold disc, this award was "Presented to John Jansen to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Dollars Worth of the Reprise Records Long-Playing Record Album 'Rainbow Bridge'". Framed with the rare white mat in gold trimmed walnut to an overall 17.5" x 21.75" and in Very Good condition, with dampstaining and discoloration to lower edge of mat, minor wrinkling to paper album label and light wear to frame edges.
