Description

Donny Osmond "Go Away Little Girl" RIAA White Mat Gold Record Sales Award (MGM K 14285, 1971). A rare white mat RIAA gold sales award. All components appear original, minus the label on the gold disc, which is a reproduction. According to the plaque beneath the disc, the award was "Presented to MGM Records to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Copies of the MGM Records Pop Single Record 'Go Away Little Girl'". Framed to an overall 13" x 17". Very Fine, minus the aforementioned reproduction disc label. From the David Gest Memorabilia Archive.

Originally written in 1962 by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, and first recorded by Bobby Vee, "Go Away Little Girl" was transformed into a monumental hit when Donny Osmond unleashed his version of the song in 1971. It hit the top spot on the Billboard 100, and stayed there for three weeks.
