DescriptionDavid Bowie "Laughing Gnome" British Silver Record Sales Award Presented to the Artist (UK Deram DM 123, 1967). Though a light-hearted novelty song consisting of a young Bowie "conversing" with the titular fairy, "The Laughing Gnome" was still a chart hit - upon the single's 1973 re-release. When the song was first issued in 1967, it failed to make an impact, but by 1973, David Bowie was in full Ziggy Stardust hitmaking mode. Presented here is quite a rarity - a silver Disc record sales award presented to David Bowie himself, recognizing "250,000 British sales of his Decca recording / Laughing Gnome". Awards presented directly to the artist are highly coveted, especially for an early effort in the storied, decades-long career of an icon like Bowie. Framed in silver to an approximate 11" x 14". In Very Good Plus condition, with some scuffing/scratching to the frame, fogging to the glass, and a missing edge piece to the top of the frame.
