Description

Beatles LIVE! At The Star-Club In Hamburg, 1962 Commemorative Platinum Award This framed commemorative platinum record award was presented by the German record company Bellaphon, which manufactured and distributed the 1977 Lingasong Records release The Beatles LIVE! At The Star-Club, Hamburg, 1962. The recipient, as noted in an inscribed card affixed to the back was Ted "King-Size" Taylor - the Liverpool musician who famously made the Beatles recording on his own personal tape recorder in December, 1962. Although it is a decorative award, it is very interesting in that it commemorates the first live recordings made by the Beatles, which were also the first live Beatles recordings to be publicly released. We have never seen this award before, and it is likely that very few of them were made.

In Very Good condition, the metal on the LP exhibiting oxidation and surface loss from age. In its original frame, the LP on a purple fabric backing to match the Bellaphon/Lingasong label. The frame has numerous dings and scratches and a 7" crack on the bottom which was previously repaired. From the Collection of Ted "King-Size" Taylor.
